View from Ramallah reaction
Sir: I have read the View from Ramallah in the May 2002 Architectural Review. I am sure Tom Kay wrote only what he had seen and experienced. As an Israeli, one must face the facts of life, even those which show us Israelis as the bad guys in the neighbourhood.
War is not a picnic to either side, and believe me, it is not a picnic to live next door to Arafat either.
I respect the feelings and reactions of Tom and accept such an article about the armed forces of my native land. I just do not understand why in the AR? What has an architectural magazine to do with the Middle East crisis and its complex politics? There are enough articles which are relevant to the region: the new generation of architects in Syria, Jordan, Egypt for instance? New residential and public built complexes in the Palestinian authority? Rural versus urban development in Mid Eastern countries etc.
Yours etc
