At That’s Design, Andromeda is presenting Livia, an encounter between
creativity and technology
The innovative structure conceived by designer Leo De Carlo has been chosen by International Furniture Exhibition 2007 as example of creativity.
The Murano glass pendant lamp Livia has been chosen by the Milan Polytechnic Faculty of Design Academic Committee to take part in That’s Design.
The result of collaboration between Andromeda and the designer Leo De Carlo, Livia is a sophisticated mix of creativity and technology, playful imagination and geometric regularity.
Livia combines the technical ability to produce innovative light sources and the beauty of the Murano glass tradition, the random irregularities of the glass curls contrast with the pure rationality of the supporting steel sheet.
The particular brilliance of the glass elements is obtained by means of an innovative micro-neon lighting system "sunk" into the steel structure, transforming the irregular glass filaments into giant "optical fibres".
In the base, a row of LEDs are inset flush with the steel sheet to provide highly effective zenith lighting.
That's Design will take place from 18 to 23 April 2007 in the Zona Tortona area in Milan during the International Furniture Exhibition 2007.
Founded 35 years ago to make classical Murano lighting, Andromeda progressively turned its attention to the quest for innovative shapes and concepts and is now considered the absolute protagonist of Lighting Design.
