This is me on the rostrum talking about the redesign of the AR to the crowds at the MIPIM Pecha Kucha. It was a great event, with interesting people tackling the big subjects - the recession, urban design, literature, art. I decided to talk about vintage typography in the AR.
It’s partly because I’ve spent so much time looking at old ARs in the last few months, and partly to try to deal with the received wisdom that architects only like sans serif fonts.
Don’t know if I succeeded, and my last slide didn’t work. But it seemed to go down well. I particularly like the image above. If you look closely at the pediment, you’ll see the words ‘Bastard Architect’. A fantastic signature for a practice…
