Last month, to commemorate five years since opening, Maltese practice Chris Briffa Architects moved into a voyeuristic installation in the St. James Cavalier Centre in Valletta, Malta
The office moved into a concrete-block room within the St. James Cavalier Centre for a month and visitors to the museum could peep through holes in the installation to watch the team work.
After three months of planning, the low-tech structure was built in just three days. The blocks will be used in construction after the exhibition and the timber was borrowed from one of the practices’ sites.
Chris Briffa of the practice said, ‘It will probably be a bit like working in a site office, only that here we are not the ones watching, but the ones being watched. We hope that Skin Peep inspires young talent and the general public towards contemporary architecture.’
The exhibition will run until 22 November 2009 at the St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Castille Place, Valletta, Madrid. www.sjcav.org
