Dzintari Forest Park, Jurmala, Latvia by Substance

Dzintari

Latvian practice Substance has just completed this visitors centre in the Dzintari Forest park in the centre of Jurmala.Dzintari

Due to the very central location of the park within the city, this project is seen as an extension to Jurmala’s infrastructure. These new interventions and improved facilities have made the forest a more integral part of the city.

The design provides many facilities throughout the park including an in-line skating track and skate park, children’s playground, cafes and sports equipment rental.

Each amenity is joined by a raised wooden walkway making the park accessible to everyone. Pedestrian bridges cross the skating routes, keeping the two separate.

A modular system was used in the construction of the buildings. Composite panels with polished aluminium surface are used as facades.
