PaperVillain is an shelter constructed from recycled ‘freepapers’.
The temporary structure took 17 people three weeks to make, constructed from 2542 individually folded paper hats.
The paper hats then formed an articulated tensile canopy, creating a shelter displayed at the Secret Garden Festival.
Specific strengthened nodes were used to spread the load of the papers across a network of cables. These elements were stitched amidst the hats to form ‘tabloid quilts’.
At the end of the festival, the structure was recycled.
