GÜNEŞLİ TOWER Bağcılar, Istanbul, Turkey
Winner Istanbul
‘This was a building with long-life quality which will be capable of long-term occupation - and reuse. An ambitions building in an edge of town location, its cut-outs engender a horizontal aspect to this vertical building, providing both rhythm and empathy with the surrounding landscape.’
The 23-floor-high office block, and the single-storey commercial section beneath it, stretches for approximately 2,500 m2. Office spaces were designed in tandem with the gardens. The building creates green spaces, similar to those at ground level, on upper floors and benefits from a double façade system.
The overall winner of the awards was Jean Nouvel’s One New Change
