Located on Australia’s Gold Coast, this recently completed civic space designed by Whitearchitecture will play host to major sporting and cultural events.
The Parklands development includes several pavilions; the Pier Pavilion; Outdoor Stage; a Southport pier; an Amenities Building; and BBQ pavilions.
The Pier Pavilion facade shades its internal spaces from direct sunlight, while the integration of green roof areas provide significant insulation of the ground floor’s internal spaces.
The importance of large public events within the site has influenced the structures - accommodation of spectators was a major factor in which the building’s layout.
Throughout the development opportunities are created for sitting, resting and reflecting with dedicated seating offering framed views of the surrounding landscape.
